Slate River Ranch was originally one ranch situated in the heart of Virginia. Owner Glade Knight developed the ranch as the ideal vacation destination for families and friends, featuring modern facilities, meandering streams, serene rolling hills, lush green pastures, and a cutting horse operation. In 1997, Glade Knight established another Slate River Ranch in Weatherford, Texas, which featured breeding and training facilities for quality cutting horses as well as facilities for family vacations.

The Slate River Ranch in Richmond, Virginia is a perfect family vacation spot featuring luxury rooms and calm fields. The ranch includes a gym, a basketball court, a golf course, and large, modern equine facilities. The Slate River Ranch in Weatherford, Texas focuses upon the comprehensive breeding and training programs for cutting horses, and also features luxury accommodations and comprehensive programs for visiting families.
Featured Stallions
The Slate River Ranch features three high quality stallions: Bobs Freckle, Playdox, and That Sly Cat. All three stallions made the finals in the open division at the 1998 World Championship Futurity. These stallions have also produced offspring that won or made it into the finals of several stakes, futurities, and NCHA competitions.
Stallion Service Program
Glade Knight is a proud supporter of the Stallion Service Program, which raises money for the Youth ACHA Scholarship Program. The Youth ACHA Scholarship program awards prizes and organizes activities to promote and encourage participation in cutting. Glade Knight has donated stallions for breeding to support these worthy youth programs.
